The short answer
Only ripe tomato flesh may be offered as a tiny occasional treat. The green plant parts must not be fed.
Recommended amount
Offer a small bite of ripe flesh rarely.
Suitable rabbit age
Introduce fresh foods gradually only after a young rabbit is established on hay and appropriate pellets—commonly around 12 weeks. Ask a rabbit-experienced veterinarian about younger, elderly, ill, pregnant or nursing rabbits.
Preparation
Wash, remove unsafe seeds, pits, stems or peel noted below, and serve fresh and plain. Never add sugar, syrup, salt or seasoning.
Parts or forms to avoid
Do not feed leaves, stems, vines, flowers or unripe green fruit. Avoid sauces and cooked or seasoned tomato products.
Nutritional and feeding notes
Naturally high sugar or starch can disturb a rabbit’s digestive balance and contribute to unwanted weight gain. Unlimited grass hay should remain the foundation of the diet.
