Responsible Rabbit Buying, Selling and Scam Prevention

A good transaction protects the rabbit first. Buyers should receive enough accurate information to decide whether they can provide appropriate lifelong care. Sellers should screen homes, describe the rabbit honestly and document what was agreed.

For buyers
• Review the seller’s RabbitTrust profile, verification status, history and listing details.
• Ask for current photos or video and confirm that the seller controls the rabbit shown.
• Ask about age, sex, breed, diet, health history, behaviour, parents and reason for rehoming.
• Be cautious when pressured to pay immediately, move the conversation off-platform or send money to a different name.
• Do not treat a badge, pedigree or Passport as a veterinary health guarantee.
• If possible, inspect the rabbit and conditions safely before final payment.

For sellers
• Use recent authentic media and disclose known health, temperament, fertility or identification concerns.
• Do not advertise a rabbit as available after accepting a confirmed reservation.
• State the reservation amount, refund conditions, handover date and what happens if either party cancels.
• Keep important agreements in RabbitTrust Messages so both parties have the same record.
• Confirm the buyer understands housing, hay, food, heat protection and veterinary needs.

Safer payment practice
Verify the recipient name and number before sending money. Compare the amount and reference with the actual order. Screenshots can be edited, so sellers should confirm funds in their own account rather than relying only on an image. Never share passwords, one-time PINs or login codes.

At handover, verify identities where appropriate, transfer the correct rabbit, provide its current diet and records, and update the listing status. A connected RabbitTrust Passport or ownership transfer helps preserve continuity, but its member-entered content must still be evaluated.

Report suspicious behaviour to RabbitTrust and retain the messages, listing URL, payment reference and screenshots. For suspected crime or financial fraud, contact the relevant payment provider and Philippine authorities promptly.
